Nature School LA Summer Camps 2023

Welcome to Registration for Nature School LA Summer Camps/Outings in Culver City and Millard Canyon in Los Angeles, California. This is our 5th year of providing summer camps to our communities. We are proud to announce that our philosophy of creating a safe, fun and nurturing environment for humans and nature alike is flourishing and growing. During our summer camps children can relax and enjoy some down time after a busy school year. Just as much as we value child lead play we also value teacher lead activities/crafts and small lessons for the children. We have a great balance between all the things we offer while having open ears to what children desire or suggest.

While going on hikes we receive all the benefits of being outdoors in nature. We serve children ages 3-12 years old. This year we are offering the following age groups; 3-4 years, 5-7 years, 8-12 years and a mixed age group for siblings. We are excited to have new and continuing families join us! Camp starts on June 12th and ends on August 18th for our Culver City locations and ends on July 28th in our Millard Canyon locations. Camps runs Monday through Friday from 8:30am - 1:30pm. Please note that we might change the beach or park location in Culver City if circumstances require so, as well as the location in Millard Canyon.

The Culver City locations include: K. Hahn, and Del Rey Lagoon. We added special guests or 1-day field trips to some camp experiences. Parents will need to drop off and pick up children at the locations; mostly 9am-2pm.

Activities for our camps:

During the Beach Weeks, we will offer activities such as:

  • Building sand castles and practicing yoga

  • Science Projects - testing seawater composition versus fresh water

  • Learning about the local flora and fauna (ie: seaweed, sea kelp, algae, invertebrates, crabs, sand flies)

  • Creating beach jewelry, flower paper and seaweed rattles

  • Participating in cooperative group games

** We ask that the kids pack their own beach toys, towels and swimwear.  Please keep in mind that we are not responsible for lost toys.

During the Park Weeks, we will offer activities such as:

  • Crafting pueblo pottery

  • Exploring stick weaving

  • Learning about the water cycle and the ecology of a turtle pond

  • Participating in cooperative group games

  • Building tiny homes

  • Creating sun catchers and flower paper

As always there will be plenty of time for the children to choose their activity and play. Please note, we added 3 field trips for the following weeks and locations. Please let us know if your child will not be able to attend field trip days.
